In Life is a Game, Marcin Glod reinterprets the traditional genre of the still life through a contemporary Pop Art and Street Art vocabulary. The composition brings together a rose, a billiard ball and a burning pair of playing cards, transforming familiar objects into symbols of life, chance and human experience.
The flame becomes the central metaphor: life is constantly burning, moving and changing, yet the objects surrounding it suggest that existence should not simply be observed, but experienced. The billiard ball introduces the idea of chance and unpredictability, while the rose evokes beauty, pleasure and the fleeting nature of life.
Against the decorative, almost theatrical background, Glod creates a tension between danger and enjoyment. Life is a Game ultimately becomes a playful reminder that life is temporary and unpredictable — and that we are not merely spectators, but are invited to play the game.
